About a month ago, we made it back to Hama Hama oyster farm for their last open farm event of the year. It was a bit sad to say goodbye, but it was really fun visiting the farm again.
Instead of driving the whole way, we took the ferry to Bremerton, which was half way to the farm, then drove the rest of the way. Taking the ferry didn't save much time, but we wanted to introduce Sophie to it. She loved the ferry ride. She was giggling the whole way. And on the way, we saw a whale breaching. It was too fast for me to take a picture, so you guys just have to take my word for it.

The weather was so much better this time around. Sophie actually walked around on her own and attempted to dig for clams. She touched a sea star
-- a first in my book! And when she fell and
scratched herself on some oyster shell, she just wiped her
hand and kept playing.

We wanted to stay longer, but
they
had to shut down the event because the temperature was
reaching 65F. This is the point where oysters break down their
meat and fat and begin to spawn. It might be good for the oysters, but
it would not be good for us -- to eat them. We packed up our 4 dozens of oysters and 3
lbs of clams with ice and headed straight home. Deep fried oysters were the best. Until next year!
