Gold Basin, Ice Caves and Independence Lake

Two days after our unsuccessful trip to the ocean, we headed out again for another camping trip. This time, we wanted to be safe, so we went East to the Mountain Loop. We revisited Gold Basin but tried some new hikes. We saw the biggest glacier in the US then hiked to a near-by lake. It was a long and exhausting day. But the hike to the lake was worth the trouble. Sophie made two new friends - Sabine and Thomas. They were hiding in the bushes together, and Sophie's new friends shared some wild blueberries with her. It was really cute!

Mora Campground and Rialto Beach

Since our trip to the Olympic National Park was a success, we went camping again a week later. We went all the way to the ocean this time. But it was a disaster. On our second day, a storm hit us hard. We packed up and drove for 5 hours to 3 different campgrounds, but the storm followed us. It actually followed us home to Seattle.

Jade Garden

Vân wanted seafood as soon as we got home from the Dungeness Spit. We went to Jade Garden for Dim Sum the next morning. We did not get any crab, but we had plenty of shrimp. Sophie had her egg rolls and nothing else.

Tea eh?

Dungeness Spit

The Dungeness Spit was the last stop on our 2-day long camping trip. I had always wanted to visit this place because of its name. No, it was not full of saliva of Dungeness crab. It was a sand spit jutting out into the ocean. It was quite beautiful.

Marymere Falls

Further down the road from Lake Cresent was Marymere Falls. It was an easy hike. Sophie walked a lot that day. I'm sure her mom had something to do with it. Check out Sophie's shuffle!

Lake Crescent

Lake Crescent was about half an hour from Heart O Hill. It was a beautiful lake. Sophie loved throwing rocks into the water. She actually fell on her butt and got all wet. It was quite funny. And I got it on video.

Heart O Hill - Hurrican Ridge

Vân has been posting a lot of new pictures, but I'm still stuck in the past. I have so many pictures and videos from the summer that I haven't posted yet. Here we are, August 2013.

The best thing we did was camping in the Olympic National Park at the end of August. Our campsite was Heart O Hill, which was at the base of Hurricane Ridge. It was beautiful. And when we went hiking, we saw lots of wild animals. A deer came up to us, and a bunch of marmots were rolling around, looking for food.

All mine!

Where are we, daddy?
