What About Rainbow?

I feel bad that we haven't kept up this blog, especially once Rainbow came along. Thus, here's some photos of her from the past 20 months.

Look at that sweet thing...no sign yet of the terror to come.

 grumpy/happy...two emotions she's got down.

But she's mostly a happy baby.

First Camping Trip

It was early April and we headed out to a sunny coastal site on the hood canal. It was sunny for a little bit, and super windy!

Kindergarten Photo!

Sorry to be so absent on this blog site! We're working on getting some posts up that include life with Rainbow Flower, but for now, please enjoy my favorite school photo, thus far, for Sophie.

The Best Story!

Sophie and I have been trying to come up with new ways to tell stories with our blankets, toys, traffic on 99, anything really. We also have a lot of fun reinterpreting an old story or to give it new possibilities. It's my way of teaching her how to tell stories -- I just can't help it. And she has come up with really good stories -- very short though. Here's the best yet:

"Once upon the time, there was a balloon. And it tasted like a balloon. The end."

The word "tasted" captures it all: curiosity, disappointment and perhaps bitterness. I can taste it in my mouth :)

Baby...Oh, baby!

Sylvie-Ly Van Ngo was born at 9.46pm on Dec 27, 2014. She was 7 lbs 8 oz and 17 inches. She was very determined. Here's a picture of Sophie and Sylvie.

Baby #2 is coming!

Van is in labor. Baby is coming. Van's doctor scheduled the birth induction for Monday. But baby wants to come early. Baby is determined!

We've been waiting for a while now. I'm glad I put in the car seat earlier today. Seahawks are playing against the Rams tomorrow for the #1 seed in the NFC. I will probably miss the game tomorrow. But it's OK. I'm going to call her "Babyhawk"... or Power 17 (it's a power run play).

First Sleepover!

Sophie invited her bff, Coralyn, for their first sleepover this weekend. There were some ups and downs, but for the most part, it went quite well. Only one major fight (over Ariel stickers) that was easily remedied (thank goodness there were several Ariel stickers to share). Otherwise, the girls had a fun 23 hours together.
teamwork! but alas, the puzzle was more work than the two could manage.
grilled cheese and tomato soup--delicioso!
All tucked in for story time.
Good night!
Enjoying some donuts for breakfast.
Ready for trick-or-treating!

Sleepovers are exhausting!

Keiki has grown so much (almost as big as his mom), but he's still Sophie's baby. She loves to cuddle with him.

Hula!

We went to the aloha festival this weekend (Sam Choi was there!), and Sophie and her friend Coralyn entertained us with their own interpretive hula.
